Grief - reposting from 15+ years ago

Grief

In September, 2001, I wrote to Gabriel Mojay, and asked him for suggestions for blends people could use to deal with the emotional aftermath of that awful Tuesday. He graciously responded with several suggested blends, and permission to quote them to you:
1. Grief that is coupled with emotional shock and stunned disbelief:
True Lavender (5)
Jasmine (3)
Spikenard (2)

2. Grief in which an unbearable feeling of loss, overwhelming sadness, and constant tears are most pronounced:
Rose (4)
Sandalwood (4)
Neroli (2)

3. Grief that results in a sense of being numbed and withdrawn:Frankincense (5)
Cypress (3)
Clary Sage (2)

4. Grief that provokes a terrible feeling of anger and revenge:
Roman Chamomile (3)
Rose (2)
Bergamot (5) (or Bergamot FCF , if the blend is to be applied to the skin and exposed to the sun)

5. Grief that involves feelings of anxiety, dread and helplessness (for spiritual courage):
Thyme Linalol (3)
Lavender (3)
Spikenard (2)
Angelica Root (2) (or Cedarwood , if the blend is to be applied to the skin and exposed to the sun)

6. Grief that partly expresses itself as a need to nurture others, but in so doing, forgetting one's own needs:
Sweet Orange (4)
Marjoram (3)
Frankincense (3)
Gabriel, as most of you know by now, is the author of my favorite aromatherapy book, “Aromatherapy for Healing the Spirit.” (September, 2001)

are you willing to mix some Marge ... or give directions for us who are pretty clue-LESS? I can use some of #2 for at least 4 friends!

Grannie Ev, I can't.. they are Gabriel's formulas, not mine, so I can't profit from them. but mixing is easy.. and if there are several people you know who need this.. then instead of blending by the drop.. blend by the ML.. you will need...

Roman Chamomile (3) mls.. we offer it in five.. (the extra can soothe you to sleep!)
Rose (2) all of our Roses are available in 2 ml undiluted.. they are costly, but worth it... I would reach for the Damascena CO2..but truly any of them will work well.
Bergamot (5) (or Bergamot FCF , if the blend is to be applied to the skin and exposed to the sun) and that we only offer in 15 mls.. I would go with the FCF in case folks want to dilute for topical use..

Get an empty 10 or 15mls bottle.. and some of our disposable pipettes. and measure out by the ml into the empty bottle.. swirl to blend.. and voila! that is an undiluted synergy.. ready for inhaler or diffuser. or.. dilute to between 3 and 5% for wearing... it's EASY, granny ev.. you can do this...

OOOOOPS I did formula # 4.. let me go look at #2..

2. Grief in which an unbearable feeling of loss, overwhelming sadness, and constant tears are most pronounced:
Rose (4)
Sandalwood (4)
Neroli (2)

Same thing, actually..same process.. I think that might be topheavy with the rose.. rose is far stronger than the other oils listed and 4 parts rose will overwhelm the more fragile neroli and sandalwood.. I might start with 2 parts rose.. 2 to 4 neroli (for anxiety) and 4 for Sandalwood. this would make an absolutely beautiful perfume.. and healing to the soul as well. I think the Rose alba would be absolutely lovely here.

thank you so much, Marge ... it's been a horrible summer with too many deaths and terrible diagnosis for some loved ones ... my mind is just a jumble these days ... I'm going to choose the Peaceful Crossing blends for my 4 friends and leave the mixing and blending to you experts! YOU are the very best of the best to take time from your busy day to answer inquiries ... ♥

Bless your dear heart. I just don't see how we can, ethically, offer any of Gabriel's formulas. Perhaps I need to email him about it? I'll do that.
